The Association
The Boothbay Harbor One Design Association (BHODA) is a 501(c)(3) Maine nonprofit corporation dedicated to preserving and promoting classic sailboat fleets while strengthening sailing traditions in the Boothbay region of Maine.
Our mission is threefold: to support historic one-design fleets, to fund and expand community youth sailing, and to ensure that the culture of sailing remains accessible, educational, and enduring for future generations.
BHODA serves as a steward for several iconic New England one-design classes, each with deep roots in local waters and craftsmanship. The classic fleets we support include:
Boothbay Harbor One Design (BHOD)
Christmas Cove One Design (CCOD)
Hodgdon 21
Boothbay 20
Great Lakes 21
Through events, fleet support, education, and partnerships with local sailing organizations, we work to keep these boats active on the water—not just as artifacts of the past, but as living traditions.
As a nonprofit organization, BHODA reinvests directly into the community. Donations and sponsorships help fund youth sailing opportunities, fleet maintenance, educational programming, and events that celebrate the shared maritime heritage of Boothbay Harbor and the surrounding Maine coast.
Whether you are a lifelong sailor, a parent introducing a child to the water, or someone who values the preservation of classic boats and seamanship, BHODA welcomes your involvement and support.
