2026 Annual Meeting Report: The State of the Fleet

Ahead of this year's Annual Meeting, we've pulled together the fullest picture of the Boothbay Harbor One Design class that we’ve had in nearly two decades — and there's a lot worth celebrating.

Over the past year we documented 104 boats across the BHOD and its sister Hodgdon-designed classes, confirmed that 43 of our 58 known BHOD hulls are actively sailing, and — in the first season of collecting dues and gifts online — welcomed new members and raised over $3,000 for the class. Our email updates are reaching you at open rates most organizations only dream of, and this year's member survey drew thoughtful, candid responses from across the fleet.

The survey's message came through loud and clear: members love these boats and want to sail them more, value the class's heritage and its welcome to new families as much as its racing, and feel a deep attachment to keeping the tradition alive. There's real work ahead — an aging fleet, boats that sit idle, the search for younger sailors — but an unmistakably strong foundation to build on.
