President’s Letter
SEPTEMBER 13th, 4 p.m.
Dear BHODA members,
It was a cool and cloudy day when we gathered to celebrate the season just past and plan for the season ahead. The major accomplishment this past year was the development of a website that is up to date, managed, and allows for membership renewals and contributions to be made on line. The site also features wonderful photographs of One Designs under sail (thank you Don Snyder), as well as featured boats for sale. The site was expertly developed by Eric Hakanson, Jr., for which BHODA is extremely grateful.
BHODA also continued sponsorship of the Regatta, held Wednesday evening races, and worked diligently to get as many ODs on the water as possible. A highlight of the season was the donation of MUMTAZ to the Jr. Program, and she is now being raced in the Regatta. Many members have sent in reviews in response to the online survey, many are positive and all are helpful. Do respond if you have not done so; these thoughts and comments are critical as we plan the future of BHODA. AND, don’t forget to pay your dues…adding on a small donation will be appreciated!
This year the Cochranes graciously offered to host our Annual Meeting at their beautiful home on Southport. As always each member brought an appetizer, salad, or dessert. The Board provided main courses.
We held our Annual Meeting and voted on the Board members for the upcoming year. Treasurer Don Snyder provided us with an annual Financial Report (sent separately), and we discussed any other business that properly came before the Membership. One discussion was the possible purchase of another OD for use by the Junior Program. No decision was made, but the Board will have further discussions and pursue the possibility.

Our gathering this year was small, but we enjoyed a great time recapping the season and floating ideas for next year. My time as president has been encouraging, as we have added some younger members to the Board with good ideas for increasing the number of OD sailors who participate in competitive as well as fun races.
